I think if you do that, it clears the main system menu, but does not prevent other menus from being loaded autmagically (like the format bar if a MODI COMM is subsequently issued, or the Browse bar if a BROWSE is issued in your program.) SET SYSMENU OFF disbles the main menu during program execution entirely.
