I'm sure it's a good way to do this, but there's no need to hit the registry unless you want the companyname, and that only applies to the installer - the username of the current user can be gotten with the few lines of VB I gave earlier, and the system date format (as well as a ton of other stuff) can be gotten at through a couple of other relatively simple API calls.

Trying to retrieve information like this from the registry where the Win32 API provides easy mechanisms is probably a bad approach in the long run; access to the registry details is changing under Win2K, and I'd expect that with the new security model, the constants associated with many of the security-related descriptors is about to undergo significant change.
