Oh it's not a problem, Jim. There are always people lurking around
that insist on being negative (like the 'genius' that posted the WHAT YOU
WANT IS NOT WHAT I WANT response). But you guys have the right idea,
this is the tool we use to make a living. And I see no harm in as a community we all come up with a list of what is most important to us. Any idiot can post a 'wish list' entry, but as a community we can have a list that really represents us.

Its sort of like carpenters that didn't have a 'nail puller' on the back of the hammer. I'm sure some guys said 'I don't want it, I would never use it, I like to bite the nails out with my teeth like my grandpappy did!' But enough got together and viola!, the 'claw' hammer is defacto.

Personally, I'm getting tired of biting out nails when it comes to VFP.
And other langagues like VB can do things that would be easy to add in VFP.

Insert 'Flame Reply' here: ;)

>Well, Ed, it looks like the "killers" have succeeded again!
>
>Why anyone has a problem with discussing any specific "wish" before it is ever put into the "Wish List" is beyond my comprehension. This would *NOT* be "creating another vehicle" (to compete with the existing wish list) at all.
>
>If someone doesn't want to participate (either about any specific wish or in the category in general) they are free to ignore it.
>
>I don't, by the way, think it comes down to "voting". A good discussion will reveal the merit of any wish, and if the originator chooses to submit despite words to the contrary, so what.
>
>I also don't see why it matter at all if 'my wishes are sure to be different than other people's'. Cannot people talk about several different wishes at once??? Apparently some cannot, but I'm betting that most can.
>
>I agree, by the way, that current submissions on UT are shoddy at best. Anything that would improve the quality/content/rationale of a wish should be welcomed, not shunned.
>
>Too bad, really. A coupla folks (who have their own more direct route to the VFP team for wish submissions and other stuff) can kill off an idea helpful to us more average users. Why they are motivated to kill ity each time it comes up remains mysterious, because the reasons cited to date really hold no water. Not to mention the fact that it clearly doesn't work.

>Nice try, Ed. Maybe the next attempter will have more success.

>>What we really need is a voting mechanism though. The wish list in the UT here is not acceptable. The wish list is any 'hair brained' idea all of us put out. We really need a way to consolidate these entries and provide a list of what IS most important. Some of those entries are years old and not realistic.
>>
>>Maybe we can come up with a list and host it in a voting format on one of our web sites?

>>>There is already a vehicle for this in the UT Knowledge base. Creating another vehicle will not produce a better response, it will only serve to water down the effect of both vehicles. Use the one that already exists, that is the Wush List item in the Knowledge base of the UT (that is here, not an MS wish list).
