>>>I'm about to get a cable modem installed - finally. I'd like to share that IP address with all my home computers, and I'd like to figure out the most direct way of doing that.
>>>
>>>I have an NT4 WorkStation and a Win98 machine networked, and I have a third machine which I could set up with just about anything I want - NTServer, Netware/Bordermanager, Linux.....
>>>
>>>I've heard that a recent update to Win98 may do proxying of some sort, but I'm not sure where to get the upgrade and whether the upgrade will require a complete re-install of Win98 or not!
>>>
>>>Any suggestions regarding my best option?
>>>
>>>TIA

>>I just sprung for the second IP address. @Home is charging me an extra 4.50/month for the second IP.

>As I understand things, that would mean any nosey person could simply get access to my PC through the internet - although if I use proxy or NAT, it creates a low-end kind of firewall. I recall an article in InfoWorld recently in which the outhor found a lot of people querying his machine once he established a full time internet connection (through DSL or Cable or something like that).

>BTW - I cut and pasted some of your VFP KB articles for my own future reference - thanks!

I don't currently monitor for other people intruding.

My web site is currently hosted on the @home server.
