I agree on both ideas - especially that 3 chars is too restrictive. Even in my largest app searches, I have only a 2-char minimum, and it works fine...it is possible for a user to "break the memory bank" by a foolish search (like "is"), but I figure that's their own fault...and here, records are brought across only in smaller packets, so it shouldn't be a problem...
