If the format of the character string is YYYYMMDD, then VFP can accurately append dates from the SDF file. I believe that this is because this format matches that which VFP uses to store the date information in the table. Other formats cause this sort of problem. The workaround I presented earlier in this thread is, I believe, the most flexible since it can be modified to handle any particular date format by passing parameters to the routine.
