If the colors are not alternating then probably you wrote the expression wrong. It's easy to set it wrong for dynamic* and no error message comes up. Check your expression in debugger to see if it's really returning an integer.
For examples and classes check gridx.zip in files\classes section. It contains the classes just you want :)
