Gerard,
at my office, we use Timbuktu for remote control and access, from NetOpia. They also have communications hardware (ISDN and dual-analogue routers), which come with 2 licences for the software. The nice thing about this software is you can control the other computer, view what the operator is doing, exchange files, pretty much everything PC Anywhere can do. The only downside is that it doesn't have it's own dialer, do it works only over TCP/IP. However, the software is the host AND the client all in one. Take a look at it on their site at:
http://www.netopia.comIt comes in Windows and MAC flavors, both cross-platform compatible (you can control MAC from PC and PC from MAC if I understood correctly).
