I went to school at Albany St. in upstate NY. When it was time to go home for holidays, 12:00 pm was the magic time. If I got on the throughway in NY after 12, I hit traffic at the first tollbooth. I was then assured of not getting to Long Island any time before 5:30pm. If I left even a minute before 12:00pm, there would be no traffic at the tollbooth. Arrival time in Long Island, 3:00-3:30.
