Like George, I have VS6 & MSDN copies for home use, and the *everything* goes on the hard drive, since I've got space+. Of course the access speed is much better.
However, at work, I've got less space plus a gazillion other things installed, so I did the 3 full MSDN set CD-run install. The full MSDN CD-run install takes about 190 MB, and the vfp6 2-CD version somewhat less, I'm sure. Occasional CD switching, but not a lot, and it's not *too* slow :) You *might* be able to fit it, especially if you can clean up a few things...
