I posted a KB article here about this very problem. My solution involves trapping where the mouse click took place on the form and trapping the coordinates using MROW() and MCOL(). If they fell within the domain of the Cancel button, Valid returns .T. ... Ain't no way to avoid firing that Valid...look for my article for more info and code.

But everytime they press teh cancel button, the valid event still takes place and it comes back with a message saying an entry in required!
