Interesting turnout on this question. To add my .02 US to the list. I have 4 degrees including 2 masters in completely unrelated subjects to this field. When I decided to make a mid life career change I took technical classes in a variety of languages including C, C++, VB as well as Oracle for a a database language.

Then I had the good fortune to find a position at a company wich gave me the chance to learn and use VFP. I love this language and the support of the Foxpro community! I love the lifelong learning this product and programming in general entails (Just consider all the school time I did.)

We may take a lot of paths to get here, but here we are so let's enjoy it.
