I think the only thing you can do is watch for the second appearance of the long message bar, after the thermometer reaches 100 % (I'd expect it to boil, but it's percents, not Celsius degrees) - that's when it reports to Michel's server that the download is complete and it can move your "last message read" marker. The moment it goes away, you can disconnect - well, manually...
