I was a space-nut when I was a kid. I used to feign sickness when a launch was on a school day. Star Trek was my favorite TV show, and the last original airing of a new episode was within days of the moon landing.

I digress. Anyway, I watched live coverage of the approach, landing, and EVA. I refused to be pulled away from the Zenith console TV in the family living room. I was nine years old; I thought I was watching a beginning of a journey that would soon lead to Mars and beyond.

My father watched stoically, my mother with tears in her eyes and, I think, I had them too. It was, and remains, the greatest accomplishment in human history.

>...those of us who are old enough - where were you when the Eagle landed? Just wondering - channel 4 here in the UK is running a 'live' re-run of the landing (www.channel4.com has details) which I'm waiting to start.
