think I've got that sorted

That way, when VFP ships a new _base, all you will have to do is redefine on library and not loose any code or settings you would put in there, since you would now put those settings/code in _mybase.

think I understand that and Jim and others have pointed me in the right direction for redefining my existing classes. I'll be nervously experimenting with same over the next few days, so if you see a large mushroom shaped cloud over the UK, don't be surprised...
