interested in what purpose it serves. > > Cookie <> Microsoft > > It's a word coming from the Internet, mostly Netscape. actually cookies are totaly supported by MSIE as in Netscape basically cookie is a small text file with some info a browser can save 9if you enable it) in a certain place on your HD this can serve to save information like preferences,passwords etc. it is considered a "security issue" because the remote host (via html,JS etc.) writes and reads data from your HD but I (at least) don't know of any security holes in handling cookies (ie using the cookies mechanism to read or write other parts of your HD) but I might be wrong <eg> Arnon
