ODBC Date Fields

I have a remote view created with the Visual FoxPro ODBC driver, version 6.00.8141.00, that references a FoxPro 2.6 table. Everything works fine, except the date fields, where I am finding some strange behaviour.

If I replace the value in the date field with a valid date, all is fine, however if I try to place an empty date in the field (as in 'no date specified') I get a data type error and I am forced to perform a tablerevert.

I really need the functionality for this, as it is already included in a previous version of my system. I was forced to upgrade the ODBC drivers for some customers when MS decided to dump the old FoxPro odbc driver, but things are never quite as simple as you imagine, are they??

TIA
