I understand now! It does seem strange that exec isn't support but triggers and defaults are! What I could never understand is how ODBC calls could execute the very VFP code in the triggers without the runtime engine! But i guess the runtime engine or a portion thereof, must be embedded in the ODBC driver. Maybe it is very limited runtime (no interface stuff) which is why it can run the triggers, but in the end, trigger code can be just as complicated as anything else.
