I have a bachelor in computer science form University of Ottawa.
However, I must say that 90% of the tools I use today was self-thought. Its impossible to obtain a degree and expect to use the same tools and exact knowledge and apply it in the workforce as technology changes too rapidly. On the other hand, University training has developed my mind so that I can perform my own research and learn things on my own.
Some knowledge of computer science, wether through a degree or self-thought is a must to use VFP correclty. However, it is also a key to have knowledge in the field for which you are designing your application: ie. insurance, finance, etc...
