Good leads, Evan...

I wrote a FoxPro 2.x DOS application years ago that did this. Worked with a receipt printer, a pole display, and a bar code reader...all were really easy to work with. I think the cash drawer just wanted a CHR(12) sent via a serial cable and >ka-ching<.

All very simple. Rix has nothing to worry about.
