Evan:
I worked some more on this after I sent the stripped down version to you. What I found was that if I removed any SELECT statements, and let the Foxpro background stuff work to maintain order in the database, and threw a full tab page refresh in at the end, I got the performance I was looking for.
As it turns out, Cetin was correct in his response to the original code. I was too set in forcing Foxpro to do things my way.
By the way, I also dropped the $245.00 that Microsoft now wants for per-incident tech support and emailed them the same thing I emailed you. They were not able to find the answer. I requested my money back! They said I'd receive a refund. I was upset when they charged $95.00 for support, you can imagine what I think now. They also didn't inform me when I called them that the cost had gone up!
Take care and thanks for your help.
Tom.
