>>>The NET.CFG & SHELL.CFG files are in the same direcrory as the Novell drivers (C:\APPS_NI\NOVELL), the total files are < 255 (99+99).
>>>Also, the problem disappears if the files are on a local drive even though I am STILL CONNECTED TO THE NETWORK.

>The user is myself, I cannot login as supervisor, but I do have God rights to the directories concerned. Curious though, I licked the problem for a short while by setting DEFAULT to C: though the files were being accessed off M: & N: drives (application & data).
>Even more curious - after selecting cancel at the error box, I wrote a little snippet to open a table on the network in multiple work areas (FOR..NEXT 100 times) - it did it just fine as DISPLAY STATUS confurmed!
>At the time I receive the error I have 5 tables with their CDXs open, 2 menus, one form, about 150 memory variables (I have 1024 set) and am about to Print or Preview a report.
Try adding
tmpfiles=c:
to your config.fpw
I still think it is a network user config problem. I have had experiences where "God" mode is still not the same as supervisor. On occasion, the problem was solved by deleting and re-defining the network user.
Did you check to see if there was any kind of user limit on # of files open or user disk space limitations?
