Paul,
>I spoke with a Mac consultant today who is investigating a server product called FrontBase. According to a FrontBase rep, VFP 6 is to be the last VFP version, and that Microsoft will only offer SQL Server in the future.
Unfortunately, this an on going rumour since FPW 2.6. In fact the future of VFP has never been so bright as it is now. The future plans for VFP are descibed in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/prodinfo/future/vfpbgrnd.asp.
It seems to be that some people see VFP as an outdated develop enviroment (which of course is absulutely false), and think it will be off the market soon. There are numerous thread written here about this subject.
SQL-server will never be a substitude for VFP because it doesn't offer a front-end. In fact VFP is one of the most powerfull (if not the most powerfull) RAD application development tools. You investment in VFP is safe; Even MS will confirm this.
We even saw some nice features of the upcoming VFP version. Just search for VFP 7.
If Anyone who is still saying VFP is dying product just sent them to the UT and we discuss this in a appropiate manner.
Walter,
