>Its just that Outlook/Outlook Express/Exchange/Windows Messageing/Inbox are just pains due to the MS theory of Software: Lets develop an app, update every 2 weeks, change the "standard interface", discontinue the product and replace it with something new, and make the previous app unworkable with if there both on the same system. I don't feel like rewriteing my components whenever Gates hickups.
I completely agree... and given your analogy I suspect Gates drinks alot!
I went to IDSMail because it "claimed" to work with virtually "any" email client by detecting the client on the workstation "for you". I was suspicious of such a claim, but gave it a try. Also I was happy to see a sample of using IDSMail with VFP on their web site... such a rare occasion! I have it running in different production applications under Exchange, Outlook (97, 98, and 2000), Outlook Express, GroupWise, Pegasus, and Eudora with no changes to my code.
Also, one of my clients recently upgraded their version of Exchange and their Outlook clients, which of course I suspected would kill this thing, but there have been no problems with the application using IDSMail after the upgrades.
I'm not trying to 'sell' this thing, just letting you know it has worked well for me... so far.
