I am running VFP 6.0 with SP3, and SQL 7 as the back end. I created a new table in SQL that has a character field.

The problem: When I set up the view in VFP using the view designer, and go to the properties window for data mapping, I can't set the character length to anything great than 20 characters for this character field. When I try to set it to greater than 20 characters VFP sets it back to 20. The character length in the SQL table is greater than 20 characters. I tried varchar, char and text. I deleted and re-created the SQL table, and the View in VFP.

If I go to the views in the project, created some time ago, I can adjust the character field to greater than 20 characters, so the old views still work. Very puzzling.

Has anyone run into this? Any insight would be most appreciated, and any ideas on how I can isolate to an ODBC problem or VFP.

Thanks
