There is a message from Barbara a few months ago

if you rename the DBC files through Explorer then open each table exclusively it will ask if you wish to create a back-link. This should accomplish what you are asking.

Make sure you back up the database before making any changes. If you reference the database in any forms you will need to make changes there too.
