I was ten when the crash occurred, so saying that I was born on that date is inaccurate. It was, however, the loss of three major artists in Rock 'n' Roll at the time. At the time, I wasn't really into rock, so, while I remember the event, it didn't have the impact on me that it had on some others.

By the time the "American Pie" song came out, however, I had begun playing guitar and had been in some bands. When I found out about the supposed reference, it was more than a little annoying, especially since every time you turned around the song was been played on the radio.
