If "x" consultant is trying to con you into accepting the technology he/she is familiar with, or tell you unsubstantiated stories about "x" tool, why should you show any tolerance or patience? Of course you don't yell and kick, but you tell the guy what you think of his tactics. That does not mean you're not professional IMHO.
I sure agree. It's not a matter of wheter or not to let him know he's very very wrong. It's about how to tell him. Often the most effective way (the most embarrassing for the consultant) is politely let him know that he's wrong and tell him that you don't like consultants who are misinformed. Just let him know that you regard consultants who are misinformed not as a professional. and that you are deeply dissapointed in him.
You might be surprised about the effect this would have.
