Have you played with the ShareConnection "View" property (DBSETPROP)? I have found that changing that setting to .F. helps with resources. What about using SQL passthrough and setting transactions to manual? You can then use SQLCOMMIT and SQLROLLBACK to manage that transactions. This is what I generally do.
