I'm just very curious...what is the difference in performance?

If your table has no deleted records why not just SET DELETED OFF. That should be faster in all cases.

Was it just a typo, SYS(3054,2)? I don't remember if it's good for VFP5.0, but it errors in 6.
Don't you want SYS(3054,11)? Was that what you were using?
