Jim,
Lists and combos can have disabled items in them. My comment to Daryl was one of User interface design. If an item is not available to be selected then it should not be in the list USUALLY. Daryl responded and explained his design and I agree with him and with you regarding file names.
I guess that I don't agree with your surmisal that we have virtually no control over this because I don't use rowsources on my lists and combos but rahter populate them in the Requery using addlistitem() calls. That way I have absolutely full control over everything that happens in the lists and combos.
