Welcome back. I was born, raised and still live in the NC piedmont triad. Lake Lure is a great place to unwind. Usually get up to the mountains in early spring and fall. The beauty of the mountains when the leaves change color in fall is a site no one should miss. Sorry about the heat, we average around 18 +90 degree days in the summer.
