You might check the registry to see if there's a different ProgID associated with Outlook 2000's generic MAPI object. You may have removed or retired the ActiveX automation obejct that held the ProgID MSMAPI.MAPISESSION.1 at some point during the install process for Outlook 2000. Look under the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for an entry that matches the ProgID.
