I don't know what "going in to edit mode means", but perhaps I can give some insight anyway.

Letters entered in a textbox come out backwards if the textbox's value proprety is modified from the interactivechange event. This is because setting the value property also sets the SelStart property to 0, placing the cursor at the beginning of the value with every keypress. Any of this sound familiar?
