>can anyone tell me if there are books special about developing com objects, servers or dll's? If so, where can i get such a book?

AFAIK, there's no VFP-specific book on the market right now that deal exclusively with COM development; Rick Strahl's
Internet Applications withVisual FOxPro 6.0 goes into some detail about creating and using COM servers in the context of internet development; Jim Booth and Steve Sawyer's book
Effective Techniques for Application Development with Visual FoxPro 6.0 has a good chapter on it (and really deserves a thorough reading regardless of what you want to do with VFP6; other than
Hacker's Guide to VFP6, it's probably as close to being a mandatory part of a VFP6 developer's library), and there's a chapter on COM in the VFP6 on-line docs that covers the main topics.
There are lots of books on COM in general, especially on COM internals, on the market now that are worth a read, but won't help you from the perspective of VFP development of COM objects. If you go out to Amazon.com and do a search there, you'll find a very wide choice of books.
