Hi Darren,
It can be done. You have to install Windows Messaging prior to installing Notes.

"The Notes MAPI Service Provider is installed on either a Client or Server install of Notes. A Notes install will add information to mapisvc.inf (in the Windows directory) if it is already there, and if it is not there it will install a file (see release notes for name) that will need to be manually merged into mapisvc.inf after the MAPI subsystem is installed (e.g. via an Outlook 98 installation with the 'corporate email server support' option selected). Next, set up a messaging profile from the Control Panel - Mail applet, and make sure you configure in the Lotus Notes service. At this point you should be able to use a MAPI client such as Outlook 98 to access Notes mail. Now pick an API (Simple MAPI, MAPI, Active Messaging, etc.) and you should be able to access it programmatically as well."

I have an file with detailed instructions at home. I'll mail it to you in a few hours.
