Do you need a clear events?

>I would like a form to test some condition,such as, "can I open a table exclusivly and if those conditions cannot be met, simply close. Entering any or all of these lines:
>Thisform.Release
>Thisform.Deactivate
>Thisform.Destroy
>Thisform.Unload
>in the Load, Init, or Activate or a user defined method called in any of these methods has no effect at all on the form. It simply ignores them. Any suggestions?
