Jim,
I'm doing the following:
- start the debugger
- select the exe-file of the application 
- step thrue until i see the app_application object in the trace window
- select the onshutdown procedure
- set the breakpoint by clicking on the first line which is executed (do case..)
- resume the application
- click on the x-button of the main window to exit the application
  
Error : Cancel or Suspend not allowed 
        (1651) onshutdown,5
        The dBASE IV report or label file you are running calls a SUSPEND.
        This is not a valid operation in Visual FoxPro.
This error does not appear when i exit via menu Files/exit.
You were right to check out the onshutdown procedure. The debugger never showed me that this procedure is called via the x-button.(How did you know???)
