Just summarizing the steps here:
You have downloaded the 5.1e update from Stonefield.
You unzip the file into the main Stonefolder folder [C:\Stonefield].
You launch VFP and CD C:\Stonefield [or wherever].
You issue the command: DO INSTUPD
After completion, you change to the SDT folder by typing: CD SDT
you then MODI PROJ SDT and Build App with Recompile All.

If all this is correct, look at your VFP startup PRG to see which SDT.APP is getting run. Keep in mind the actual SDT product is placed in the SDT folder under StoneField. The INSTUPD is run from the Stonefield folder, not the Stonefield\SDT folder.
