You can certainly do everything with just Remote Views. You don't need any local tables. Remote views may not work with some of VFP's wizards, however. If you want to create a 1-many report you may want to just create a view that is a result of joining the two tables. You can then create the report just as you would if you had two tables and a relationship set.
This stuff can take a while to learn, but once you get comfortable with it I think you'll find VFP and SQL Server to be a very powerful combination. If you have any more questions just ask.
