tried it. In the following line and in the setfocus itself. No effect. The dropdown still refuses to dropdown. User has no opportunity to select a value and despite the valid trying to block leaving the control without an empty value, although it duly flashes up the 'invalid input' warning and returns to the gotfocus, it then leaves the control anyway!
