Create a Netsetup install, and try installing directly from this on your own or a test computer. Also try installing directly from the DISK1 folder on your computer not the floppy DISK1. This will eliminate problems with the files themselves and indicate a problem with the floppies. If the netsetup runs, you could distribute on CDs if you have a CD writer.

Other than reinstalling, I am not sure what the problem is. I was going to offer to e-mail you the SETUP.APP from VFP 3, but I can not find my VFP 3 CD right now. I will continue to look for it.

>Thanks for the response, and yes I copied files properly. I am using Win98 and created the disks using first the Win95 oprion, then Win32. same result. The installation on the second computer goes through the first few screens sucessfully, then displays the Error information box for error 289 (not in my help file), and shows "Object 240" in the box (whatever that means). Any suggestions? I am stuck with not being able to distribute my applications.

>>>I have VFP 3.0 Professional Edition. I am attempting to create distribution disks for an application that runs fine in VFP. I followed all the instructions and the system created Disk1, Disk2, Disk3, and Disk4. When I try to install Disk1 from a floppy on a different computer I get Error 289 (Error in Startup). There is no help text for that error number. I have repeated the process several times and end up with the same error each time. Where do I look for the error?

>>Did you copy the files from Disk1 to the floppy or did you drop the Disk1 folder onto the floppy? There should be no Disk1 folder on the floppy, just the files. Make sure when you are in Windows Explorer, you have set the View Options to display ALL files. Otherwise, some of the files may not get copied to the floppies.
