Hi Jacky,
You will need to get a unix backend database if you want some performance. Some Linux advocates will tell you it can be done if you use it as a file server. But that means you'll have to bring entire files from Linux and processing them on the client side. Or maybe somebody else has come up with an even "retro-er" idea.
