Hello All!

Michel asked me to post a few words about VFUG activity at the Great Lakes Great Database Workshop (GLGDW).

Although this was the second conference in which VFUG had been represented, it was the first time in which it was actively "marketed" (for lack of a better word (s)).

We had an ad on the first page fo the material book that was handed out to all attendees, and we had our fist Non-Virtual Virtual FoxPro User Group (s) meeting.

I noticed that not many people at the GLGDW had heard about VFUG. Thus, with the help of Michel, Mike Bisek, Allan Lindgren, and John Chambers (many thanks guys!) we chatted with many potential members and spread the word. We also held a get-together in which I spoke to about 20 people, all of whom ar egoing to check out VFUG.

If you are reading this message and are one of the people I spoke with, then let me say "WELCOME". If you are a VFUG member and I didn't get to talking to you, please accept my apologies. Remember, whenever you see one of us about at these things, don't be shy. We love to talk to our members (and put faces to names). Who knows, I may even buy you a beer!

All in all, the GLGDW was fabulous! If you have the means, I highly recommend attending these conferences! Perhaps someday we will be able to have a VFUG conference of or own!

We plan on making an even more active presence at future conferences including handouts, scheduled meetings, and possibly "vendor booths", etc. I for one will be at the conference here in Minneapolis this fall, someone, I'm sure, will be at DevCon, and Michel and Arnon have some other engagements in which, I'm sure, they can drum up some more members and industry support.

We still have a long way to go, but we are making great strides.

On related notes:

I see there was a great amount of fun (here on the UT) at my expense (s) during my Milwaukee excursion. I will do my best to avenge my honor and always bring a laptop with me so I can defend myself more readily! (S) If I forget to get back at anyone, please accepyt my apologies. It took me about 3 hours to get through my e-mail today when I got mack in town, so I may accidentally skip over someone.

Also, if anyone needs to contact me about VFUG (or anything, for that matter) I will be on vacation in Sunny Florida for a week. I will be back April 1st, and will try to get back to you ASAP. In my absence, please feel free to contact one of the other officers (although Tom will most likely just be getting out of jail because of some wild thing or another we will do (s) and Michel may be joining us, so Arnon would probably be your best bet for anything urgent).
