>I believe this is fairly common in the Windows dialog boxes for the Cancel button to trip an error that you have to trap. I've experienced it in the Common Dialog controls. Apparently they wanted to "notify" you that the user cancelled. I would think they could have come up with better way. :-)

This is fairly common - windows uses exceptions all the time. I have some documentation at home on "Handling Exceptions in C". I don't get home til Friday though so I'll have to wait before I can look further.
