I'm not sure how to research which edition of Advisor had this article and I do not receive Advisor. Is it on the net?

The value completion trick you describe is nice, but I'd just like to get my simple combo working. All I want to do is check my rowsource field to see if it's unique. Using the listitem collection seems to work.

Although the article you mentioned is of interest since try as I might, I seem to continually be sabotaged by hidden behavior of the combo that is undocumented.
