I'm trying to create FRX files programmatically, populating FRXes with fields from some old reports that are converted from another database.

That works good in many cases.

However, in some others, it seems that fields that are in the FRX are just "invisible", for example, the FRX generated has 90 records, then I manually MODIFY REPORT that FRX, notice that many of the fields are missing and after saving it, 80 fields disappear and only 10 are left.

I suspect that some of these fields may be positioned outside their header bands or detail bands or whatever.

Is there some semi-comprehensive documentation anywhere on the web about how the FRX files work?

I'm mainly interested in the positioning of fields relative to the different report bands.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
