Thanks Craig, but I'm afraid thats not dealing with the prolem.

I CAN debug even with this problem but its much more painful having to use tricks like yours or Nancy's suggestion.

Its clear from all the responses I've had that this is not normal behaviour. I just need a clue to possible causes and then potential cures.
