Basically, almost anything you can do in WIndows Explorer right window, you can do also in the common file dialogs. Since almost all new apps use these common dialogs...

The trick behind all this is that the window that displays the list of files in the common dialogs is the same as the one displayed at right by Windows Explorer.

But the cool things don't stop here. If you develop your own shell extensions, than your own window will be displayed (by the common dialogs) when your extension's directory are browsed, your right click is activated, etc, etc. Really cool.

>Maybe I'm a little behind the curve on this one, but check out the following. I've done this on VFP 6.0 SP3/Win98, so I can't say it works under different versions(SPs)/platforms.

What I've been generally doing is, opening the Windows Explorer, right clicking on the root directory folder where I want to begin my search from, selecting Find from the context menu and searching from the dialog. Then I click and drag the file to the command window to open it. I've found, however, that by issuing MODI COMM ? I can right click the base starting point folder, do the find, then cancel out of the Open file dialog, and back to the Find and drag. I've also found that I can Copy, Cut, and Paste from directly with this dialog. Note, if you're not careful you can inadvertantly move files.
