Like Ed mentioned, RAS is a good way to separate Foxpro from the nasty communications details. But only if you've got another computer on the end of the phone line with RAS server services. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Hollogram and well as Greentree (or it that Greenleaf?) has communication libraries/ActiveX controls. There are MANY others too. Just do a search on the search engines and you'll find tons. As long as you take some time with the MSComm control that comes with Visual Studio you'll find it's pretty easy to do your own dialing and transfers with alot more control over what goes on and when.

If you're wanting some information on communication libraries for accessing mainframe systems (like Bisync 3780/2780) easily then let me know. I'm working on an EDI project where I'm using a 3rd party comm library to talk directly to their mainframe.
